Helen “Queenie” Linevitch, 63, of 42 Inchcliffe Drive of Gales Ferry was reunited with the love of her life, “Jack”, on October 23, 2007 at her home after a courageous battle against cancer. She was surrounded by family and friends. She will be remembered for her love of family and friends and her Faith.
She was born in Bridgeport, CT on March 9, 1944. She graduated in 1960 as Class President of Saint Cyril and Methodius Church. It was in Bridgeport where she met her husband Jack. They were married on September 14, 1963. Jack was the first waiting to welcome her and they are finally together again.
Helen worked for her dear friends, Pete and Dick, at Lee’s Toy and Hobby in Groton for over 25 years. She enjoyed working with them until September of this year.
Queenie is survived by a son, John Arthur Linevitch and his wife, Beth, of Windham, ME; two daughters, Barbara Linevitch Leandri and her husband, John, of Gales Ferry, CT; and Donna Marie Roehr and her husband, Lawrence of Hudsonville, MI. Her mother, Ann Dartlian of Bridgeport, CT and two siblings, Virginia and Artie also survive her. She was also a loving and devoted grandmother to her eight grandchildren, Lauren and Julia Linevitch, Steven, Michael and Anna Leandri, and Allison, Nathan, and Brendan Roehr. Queenie never missed and opportunity to show her love to them. She would often send tokens of love and she never tired of watching the kids sporting events and other activities.
Queenie’s family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Friday from 5-7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Route 12, Gales Ferry, CT on Saturday at 10am. Burial will follow at Avery Stoddard Cemetery.
