Gloucester: Robert Morneau age 64 of Gloucester, died Sunday evening, October 21, 2007, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by his family and friends. He was the husband of Cecilia R. Cecilio.
Born in Beverly and raised in Beverly and Danvers, he was the son of the late Robert A. and Mary B. (Opperman) Morneau. He joined the US Air Force in 1964 and was first stationed in Japan and later in Myrtle Beach, SC. Following his tour of duty, he returned to the North Shore and began working for GE at the riverworks plant in Lynn. Employed as a jet engine tester, he retired in May of this year with 38 years with the company. Bob loved spending time with his grandchildren, traveling and story telling. He was an avid golfer who also loved hunting, bowling, horse racing and the Red Sox. Bob was a member of the Vittori-Rocci Post of Beverly and the Cape Ann Golf League.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters: Kerry Staples & her husband Richard of Salem, Kathleen Morneau and her companion Peter Cicco of Salem, 2 sons: Christopher C. ‘Chuck’ Morneau and his companion Jennifer Miano of Beverly, Robert P. Morneau of Salem, a step-son, Sean McKinnon and his wife Lucy of Peabody, a step-daughter, Tara Bush and her husband James of Gloucester, a sister, Patricia Cozby of Oxford, ME. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Jennifer, Blake, Andrew, Kayla, Danielle, Luke, Cole, Nicholas, Rowan and Ian, a great-grandson Jacob and his former wife Ruth Mallon. He was predeceased by his sister Diane M. Fessler.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet on Friday, October 26, 2007 at 10 am at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem to be followed by a graveside service in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem at 11 am. Visiting hours: Thursday 4 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923.
