Obituary



Timothy J. McCarthy died Saturday evening at St. Joseph Manor after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Kathryn M. (Mullen) McCarthy. He was born in Brockton a son of the late Timothy and Ellen (Dineen) McCarthy. He was a graduate of Brockton High School and remained a lifelong resident of the city.
Mr. McCarthy was a retired employee of the Division of Employment Security for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the US Army. He had been a member of the American Legion Post 35 in Brockton, the Seville Council of the Knights of Columbus and the Cardinal O’Connell Assembly 4th Degree.
He had also been a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
He is survived by a sister Mary McCarthy of Brockton and four nieces and nephews Thomas Mullen and Joan (Mullen) Schrimpf both of Lake Forest, Illinois; Barbara (Mullen) Lopez of Cincinnati, Ohio and Lee Mullen of Barrington, Illinois.
He was the brother of the late Catherine Powderly, Eileen McCarthy and Margaret McCarthy.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday
at 8 am followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-6 pm.
