WORCESTER-Brian J. “Squeaky” Hanlon, 47, of 15 Merchant Street, died Monday, December 30th in St. Vincent Hospital. He leaves his wife of 18 years Noreen A. (O’Brien) Hanlon, 2 sons, Matthew Shaun and Patrick James Hanlon and a daughter, Kerrianne O’Brien Hanlon all of Worcester, his father, John W. Hanlon, Sr. of Worcester, 4 brothers; Kevin W. Hanlon of Atlanta, Paul P. Hanlon of Leicester, John W. Hanlon of Worcester and Robert M. Hanlon of Boston, 2 sisters; Susan Kasper of Worcester and Kathleen M. O'Connor of Holden.
He was born in Worcester, his mother was Jeannette R. (Robertson) Hanlon who died in 1999. Mr. Hanlon attended Our Lady of Angels School, and was a graduate of St. John’s High School and Bridgewater State College. While at St. John’s High School and Bridgewater State College he was captain of their hockey teams. He had owned and operated Breen’s Café in Webster Square with his brother Paul since 1975. Mr. Hanlon coached in the Worcester Crusaders organization and the Ty Cobb Little League. He was known as the ultimate sports enthusiast as well as a “die hard” Bruin’s and Red Sox fan. As a child he summered on Cape Cod, and enjoyed fishing, golfing and boating. Mr. Hanlon was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Parish, Main South Post 341, the Main South Civic Group, and was a Mayflower descendant.
The funeral will be Friday, January 3rd from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, with a mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angles Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Thursday, January 2nd, from 4:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
