Obituary

LOWELL—Clara K. (Mooney) Collins, 73 years old, a Lowell native and longtime resident of the Highlands section of the city, died Tuesday morning December 24th, at her home. She was the wife of the late Richard A. Collins, who died in June of this year. They were married for 43 years.

She was born in Lowell, on April 8, 1929, a daughter of the late Archie and Rubina (Lawless) Mooney. She was a communicant of Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, and held membership in the Ladies Sodality of that parish.

Throughout the 1960’s and 1970’s, Mrs. Collins was very active in the community. A longtime President of the Neighborhood Council, she was also a previous member of the Center City’s Committee and the Citizen’s Advisory Committee. She was also active with Community Teamwork, Inc. and Scouting.

Surviving her are a son: Mark R. Collins, of Tampa, FL; five grandchildren: Melissa, Matthew, Kyle, Cody and Sean Collins; two great-grandchildren: William and Rachel Mahegan; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Rev. Walter and Alice Collins, of Albany, NY; and Scott and Mary Hume, of Lowell; a niece: Cheryl Collins, of Albany, NY; and a nephew: Scott Hume, of Lowell.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
