DRACUT - Rita C. (Lessard) Seavey, 93, a resident of Dracut, died Saturday October 20th at the Blaire House of Tewksbury. She was the wife of the late Charles F. Seavey who died in 2001.
She was born in Lowell on September 21, 1914, and was a daughter of the late William and Cecile (Poirier) Lessard. She received her education in Lowell schools and received a certificate in design at Lowell Textile Institute.
Mrs. Seavey was an excellent seamstress and was employed for many years as a supervisor by the former Pleasant Dress Company in Lowell. Prior to that she had worked in several area Dress mills.
In her free time she enjoyed reading, following politics, sewing and designing and making wedding dresses.
She is survived by two sisters Adeline Muller of Andover and Mary Delaware and her husband Warren of Dracut; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Charles F. Seavey Jr. and the sister of the late Roderick Lessard, Wilfred Lessard, Norman Lessard, Leo Lessard, and Jeannette McCarthy.
Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Tuesday from 10 until 11A.M., followed by her Funeral Service at 11A.M. at the funeral home. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell. Those who wish may make donations in her name to the charity of one's choice.
