Obituary

Methuen, Ma. - Mary M. (Kivell) (MacLean) Duci, 83, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2007 at Halcyon House with her children at her side.
Born in Lawrence on June 23, 1924 she was the daughter of the late Roger A. & Myra (Preston) Kivell’
She was raised and educated in Lawrence, Mass. and graduated from Lawrence High School.
Mary was the wife of the late Frank T. Duci and the former wife of Malcolm G. MacLean.
She was a wonderful mother to ten children. She had seven sons and three daughters. Through out all her very busy childrearing yearsshe always managed to continue working outside of her home. Her choice of work while her family was young was to work in the restaurant business which provided her with very flexible hours. In her later years after her family was grown she worked for Lawrence Savings Bank and was once awarded a placque for her “can do attitude”.
Ary and her late husband Frank were avid travelers and for a time they had lived in Holyoke, Mass., France, New Orleans and New York. They had also traveled to Italy to visit with her late husbands family.
She loved the holidays and would always host very festive parties for which she would do almost all of the cooking. She especially loved St. Patrick’s Day since she was very proud of her Irish Heritage.
Mary enjoyed dancing, shuffle board and her yearly summer vacations at the beach n Wells, Maine.
She was once very involved with the Lady’s Elks, Lawrence Exchange Club, the Moving On Group, and the Come Alive after Five group.
She will be sorely missed by all who knew her and loved her.
Mary’s family would like to extend their thanks to the very kind and caring staff at the Halcyon House and to all who cared for her through Merrimack Valley Hospice.
She was the widow of Frank Duci and the former wife of the late Malcolm G. MacLean and is survived by Malcolm G. MacLean, Jr. of Methuen, Brian T. & his wife Linda MacLean of Lawrence, Shawn R. & his wife Nancy MacLean of Charlestown, James P. & his wife Christine MacLean of Salem, NH, Mark A. MacLean & his former wife Lisa of North Andover, daughters M. Glenna Zirpolo of Londonderry, Sharon A. Lough & her husband John of Methuen, Maureen MacLean of South Carolina, one brother Francis Kivell & his wife Mary of North Andover, daughter-inlaw Marceline MacLean. Twenty two grandchildren, twenty greatgrandchildren and two greatgreat grandchildren.
Mrs Duci was predeceased by two sons, Grant T. MacLean and Michael W. MacLean one sister Julia Gallant.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral mass will take place on Monday morning at 9 o’clock in St. Monica’s Church in Methuen with burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
Friends may call on Sunday from 1-5 P.M. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence Street of Methuen.
