Luz D. (Baez) Rivera, 50, of New Bedford died October 18, 2007 at Brigham & Women's Hospital after a long illness.
She was the wife of Nelson A. Rivera, Sr.
Born and raised in Bronx, NY, the daughter of Ana (Sanchez) Baez of Bronx, NY and the late Tito Baez, she moved to New Bedford in 1977.
Mrs. Rivera was a communicant of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church.
She was employed as a custodian at Carney Academy School for 20 years.
Mrs. Rivera enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband; her mother; a son, Nelson Rivera, Jr. of Merced, CA; 2 daughters, Cynthia Rivera, and her husband Matthew, of Waldorf, MD and Nequisha Rivera of New Bedford; a brother, Samuel of Bronx, NY; 2 sisters, Adelina of Bronx, NY and Carmen of Puerto Rico; 3 grandchildren, Taela, Jeffrey and Devan; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; her extended family, Roberta Lowery of New Bedford and the faculty, staff and students of the Carney Academy School.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Tuesday, October 23rd at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Monday, October 22nd from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
