William Evett Rowe, age 77, died on Monday, December 23, 2002 at his residence. He was born in Medford on July 13, 1925 to the late Lemuel and Catherine Rowe. William was a veteran on the U.S. Army during World War II serving in the 88th Infantry. While serving, William earned the Purple Heart, Victory Medal, and the Eauropean African Middle Eastern Theater Campain Ribbon. He was employed as a custodian at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford for many years. A lifelong resident of Medford, William was interested in gardening and woodworking, often making things for family and nieghbors. He was a charter and life member of the VFW Post 1012 as well as a life member of the DAV Post 21. Visiting hours were held Friday from 4-8 PM. His funeral service was held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Saturday at 10:00 AM. Interment, Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. He is the loving father of William D. and his wife Julie Rowe of Reading and John Rowe of Jensen Beach, Florida. Cherished grandfather of Angela, Michelle, and Anthony Rowe, all of Reading, Candy Swan of California, Nicole DeVito of New Jersey, and Eric Rowe of Chelsea. Dear great-grandfather of Steven Swan, Jr. of California and Joseph DeVito of New Jersey. Also survived by many loving friends and neighbors.
