William J. Purtell, age 45, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007 at Saints Medical Center in Lowell.
Born in Lowell on Dec. 6, 1961, the beloved son of Robert M. and Patricia E. (Ball) Purtell of Billerica, he was a lifelong resident of Lowell and served in the U. S. Army from 1984 until 1986.
Mr. Purtell was a chef and worked for various restaurants in the Lowell area for many years. He was an avid sports fan.
Besides his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Purtell of Germany; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Donna and Gary Ferguson of Tyngsboro, Debora Beaudry and Diane Thorne, both of Lowell, and Patti Ann and Kenneth Clough of New Hampshire; three brothers, Robert Purtell of New Hampshire, Brian and David Purtell, both of Billerica; an aunt, Frances Girtatos of Pepperell; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a prayer service on Friday morning, Oct. 19 at 10 o'clock at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell. Interment will be private.
