Sylvia (Constantino) Ferrone, of Medford, died Tuesday at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was 90.
Sylvia was born in Italy, the daughter of the late Eugenio and the late Giovanna (Vuolo) Constantino. Sylvia came to America with her parents when she was a child. She grew-up in Malden and after high school became a member of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union. She worked as a seamstress at the former Leopold Morse Co. and Byron Clothing in Somerville, before her retirement. Sylvia also stitched at home making clothes for Vogue Dolls. A Medford resident for over 65 years, Sylvia was a long-time member of the Santa Maria Lodge of the Sons of Italy. Most importantly she was a good wife and mother who loved the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was the beloved wife of the late Cosmo Ferrone. She was a devoted mother to Guy Ferrone and his wife Connie of Tewksbury, Carol Mastromauro and her husband Charles of Melrose. She was a loving grandmother to Guy Ferrone Jr, Cheryl Bell, Jeffrey Ferrone, Matthew Mastromauro and Dianna Mastromauro. She was a loving great-grandmother to Lauren Ferrone and Logan Bell. She was a dear sister to Grace Rufo of Malden and the late John Constantino.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Saturday at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family on Friday from 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
