Obituary

Sidney C. Lawrence, Jr., 91, of 82 Lake Ave., died Tuesday,
October 16 at UMASS Memorial Hospital in Worcester.
He was the husband of Dorothe (Loughnane) Lawrence, Jr. who died in 2001.
He leaves a daughter, Janet R. Lawrence and her husband Gavin Duffy of
Norwalk, CT., 3 step-sons; Robert MacGregor and his wife Donna of Spencer,
Mark MacGregor and his wife Ann of American Canyon, CA., Matthew MacGregor
and his wife Roseann of Oxford, 2 step-daughters; Amy MacGregor of
Brookfield, Judi Levens and her husband John of Healdsburg, CA., a brother
Kenneth Lawrence of England, 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews.
Born in Hammersmith, England he was the son of Sidney C. and Gertrude
(Pemble) Lawrence, Sr.
Mr. Lawrence was a store manager for 30 years working at Ethan Allen
Furniture Store and Goodwin's Carriage House in Auburn, retiring in 1975.
He was a WW II veteran from 1940-1946 serving in the British Army and
obtained the rank of Sergeant.
He was former president of the Worcester County Dart League, an honorary
member of the Cherry Valley American Legion Post. He was an avid craftsman
and made scale models of ships and boats and made handcrafted furniture. Up
until his 90 birthday he rowed his boat on Sargent Pond dailey.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 20 at 11 a.m. in Greenville
Baptist Church, 684 Pleasant St., in Rochdale, a section of Leicester.
Burial will follow in Greenville Baptist Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday
from 5-7 p.m. in the MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester.
