GLOUCESTER: Anita M. (Boucher) Cudmore, 98, passed away on Sunday morning October 14, 2007 at the Golden Living Center in Gloucester. She was the wife of the late Arthur H. Cudmore.
Born in Arachat, Nova Scotia on February 24, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Thomas A. and Emily Jane (Boudreau) Boucher. She was one of twelve children and at the young age of fourteen, she moved to Gloucester to live with her aunt, Joanna Souza. She later married and raised her family in the North Shore area. Anita “Nana” was a loving wife, mother, sister and very special grandmother. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter Jean Van Lerberg and grandson, John both of Florida, her grandchildren, Kim MacIsaac , Karen Ruphard and David Ouellette, a brother and sister-in-law Augustus and Shirley Boucher all of Rockport, two sisters, Anna Sharaky and Shirley Goodhue and her husband James all of Gloucester. She is also survived by a son-in-law, Salvatore Curcuru of Gloucester and a granddaughter-in-law, Paula Ouellette of Rockport and several nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Ina Claire (Ouellette) Curcuru, a grandson Richard “Rick” Ouellette and a son-in-law, Richard “Buster” Ouellette. She was also predeceased by four brothers, Wallace, Etienne, Clarence, and Joseph T. “Clete” Boucher and four sisters Antoinette Strople, Laura Kearsey, Emily Hurlbert and Alma Goodhue.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday evening in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 5 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Prayers of committal will be held privately in the Beech Grove Cemetery, Rockport.
