Eleanor R. deCoste,93, of Pleasant View Avenue in Smithfield died Saturday at North Bay Manor. She was the wife of the late Richard S. J. deCoste.
Born in Woonsocket in 1914, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Ellen L. (Dowling) Rogers. She had lived in Smithfield since 1994 having previously lived in Norwood, MA from 1968 -1994.
Mrs. deCoste was a graduate of Lesley College and was a school teacher for the Woonsocket School System before retiring in 1979. In the 1940’s she operated a private kindergarten, Punch and Judy, in Woonsocket.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews: Carol Rogers Smith of Decatur, GA, William Rogers of Woonsocket, Jeanne Mattiucci of Cranton, Ellen Rogers of Narragansett, John Rogers of North Smithfield, Charles F. Rogers of Providence, Sally Rogers of NYC, Barbara Rogers of Newton, MA, Nancy Rogers of Rumford, Paul Rogers of Bethesda, MD, Michael and Patrick Rogers of Rumford. She was the sister in law of Barbara Rogers of Rumford. She was predeceased by brothers William, John, and Charles Rogers.
Her funeral will be held Friday at 8:30 am from Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Uxbridge. Visitation Thursday 5-8pm. Donations in her memory may be made to Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island, 169 George Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860.
