Obituary

WORCESTER___Ona S. (Papendick) Markevicius, 96, formerly of 10 Agate Avenue, died Saturday October 13 in Knollwood Nursing Center, West Boylston. Her husband, Balys J. Markevicius died in 1985.

She leaves a son, Edmund J. Markevicius and his wife Irene of Worcester; a daughter, Maia Daly of Hull; a sister, Helen Heidemann of Texas; three grandchildren and four great- grandchildren, Linda Aiello and her husband John and their children, Michael and Elana of Thompson, Ct., Edmund Markevicius and his wife Marthafaye Stone – Markevicius of Worcester and Laura LaBarge and her husband Bob and their children Julia and Rachel of Weymouth; a niece, Irena Saltuniene of Lithuania and her friend and caretaker of two years, Regina Vanagiene – Glodas. She was born and raised in Lithuania, a daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Oscar Papendick and came to Patten, Maine in 1949. She has resided in Worcester since 1950.

Mrs Markevicius was a member of Lakeview Congregational Church and volunteered with many women s circle activities there. She was also a member of the Guild of the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception in Thompson. Ona also loved to garden and tend to her flowers and she enjoyed baking.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday October 17 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street, with a Service at 10:00 a.m. in Lakeview Congregational Church, 115 Coburn Avenue. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Tuesday October 16 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Lakeview Congregational Church, 115 Coburn Ave, Worcester, Ma., 01604.
