Frances "Marie" Morris, 73, of Griffin, formerly of Tifton, died Saturday, October 13, 2007, at Spalding Health Care in Griffin. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, in Salem Memorial Gardens. Dr. W. Ches Smith, III will officiate with burial to follow in Salem Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 16, 2007, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ms. Morris was born on June 7, 1934 in Worth County and was the daughter of Harvey Leonard Morris and Odessa Morris, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by one sister. She was a seamstress and did alterations in the Tifton area for many years. Many people in Tifton will remember Ms. Morris for either making their wedding dresses and attendants' dresses or doing alterations to ones they had previously purchased. She also made flags, cheerleader uniforms for Tift County schools, and many sewed or altered many other items during her life in Tifton. She was a member of Tifton's First Baptist Church.
Ms. Morris is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Dean Morris of LaVergne, Tennessee and Aubrey and Mary Morris of Leesburg, Florida; four nieces; and one nephew.
