Obituary

Clinton S. Ferguson, 86, of Richmond, VA died December 25, 2002 at St. Mary's Hospital.

He was the husband of Alice (Nanopoulos) Ferguson and son of the late Walter Clinton and Hazel Anna (Dopp) Ferguson.

Mr. Ferguson was born in Broadalbin, NY and was a resident of Richmond, VA.

Mr. Ferguson retired as an associate professor from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1981. At VCU he also served as a faculty adviser. He also taught at East Tennessee State College in Johnson City, Hendricks College in Conway, Ark and Richmond Professional Institute, which would later become part of VCU. He contributed chapters for the textbooks, "Public Finance" and "Principles of Economics."

He was a member of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral. He was named "Man of the Year" in 1987 by the Philoptochos Society for his service to the youth of the church.

In his retirement, Mr. Ferguson held adjunct faculty posts at St. Catherine's School, University of Richmond, Virginia Union University and J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College.

He served in the US Army during World War II and was the recipient of the American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Heather Ferguson Oti of Richmond; 3 sons, Gregory Ferguson of Bethlehem, PA, Geoffrey Ferguson of Richmond and Clinton S. Ferguson, Jr. of Holland; 3 sisters, Thelma Lester and Catherine Johnson both of Broadalbin, NY and Wilda "Pat" McCaw of Ontario, Canada; 8 grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his graveside service at Pine Grove Cemetery Monday, December 30th at 12 Noon.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Mr. Ferguson's memory to Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Malvern Ave., Richmond, VA 23221.
