New Bedford – Jose T. Catana, aged 57 years, died Saturday, September 29, 2007 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the loved husband of Maria (Araulo) Catana. He was the father of Jose Catana of S. Dartmouth, Steven Catana and Kevin Catana of New Bedford, Stepfather of Michael Ferreira of New Bedford, John Ferreira Jr. of Acushnet and Jeffrey Ferreira of New Bedford. He was the brother of John Catana of Florida, Claudio Catana of Tewsbury, Ma, and Maria Souza of St. Michael, Azores. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews
Mr. Catana was the son of the Francisco Catana of St. Michael, Azores and the late Maria (Tavares) Catana . He was born in Azores, Portugal and lived in this area since 1973. He was a Fisherman for various vessels and later worked in the Fish Houses.
Mr.Catana’s Funeral is from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., on Wednesday at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 5-8 P.M.
