Margie E. (Winnell) Maccaferri of Plymouth, MA, passed away October 2, 2007 at the Bay Path Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Duxbury at the age of 83, after a long illness. Mrs. Maccaferri was born on September 12, 1924 in Hyannis, MA, to Doris N. Young and Lloyd H. Winnell. She attended Barnstable High School and was a graduate of the Class of 1942. She was employed at the Puritan Clothing Company of Hyannis when she met her future husband of 63 years, Edward B. Maccaferri. On July 9, 1944, she married Edward and moved to Plymouth. Mrs. Maccaferri was an avid collector of fine glassware, and she was a member and one time president of the Cup Plate Society. As a young girl, she studied piano and ballet. She loved to shop, travel and dance with her husband Saturday nights at the AmVets Hall in Plymouth. She had an amazing green thumb. Her home was filled with conservatory-quality plants ranging from cactus to African violets. She took particular pride in her culinary skills, and she enjoyed entertaining family and friends in her home. After rearing her three children, she enjoyed a career as a buyer and saleswoman for the Puritan Clothing Company of Plymouth. Mrs. Maccaferri leaves behind her husband Edward B. Maccaferri of Plymouth, her two daughters and their husbands; Delia and Lloyd Bankson of Union, WA and Paula and Ronald Shoup of Melbourne, FL, and her son Edward B. Maccaferri, Jr. and his wife Judy of Plymouth. She also leaves behind her sister Sally S. Zeghibe of Cataumet, MA, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Maccaferri's memory may be made to the Bay Path at Duxbury Alzheimer Unit.
