Janie Ellen Davis passed away at Golden Living Center, Southaven, MS on October 6, 2007 at the age of 94. She was born on March 2, 1913 in Coffeeville, MS, to Jesse and Fannie Lee Davis. She attended the historic Pine Grove School.She worked for Rice Stix in Water Valley for many years and also for the AFL-CIO. She later worked for the Levi Strauss Company in Memphis until she retired in 1972.
Janie Davis was the widow of Bill Davis of Water Valley, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Sammy Davis, “Lum” Davis, J.C. Davis, and Monroe Davis; infant son, James Russell Davis; daughter, Billie Lorine Orr; and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Davis leaves two daughters, Kay Davis of Memphis, TN and Carol Malone of Texas; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Seven Oaks Funeral Home of Water Valley is in charge of the graveside service at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9th in Clear Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Coffeeville, MS.
