Elder Clement O. Moore, 84, of Tifton slipped peacefully into Glory on Saturday, October 6, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9, 2007, at Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church. Elder Billy Mullis and Elder Ronnie Webb will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim Ross, Larry Ross, Curtis Barbee, Mike Ross, Jimmy Ross and Irvin Branch. Honorary pallbearers will be his fellow Primitive Baptist ministers. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 8, 2007, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Elder Moore was born on September 23, 1923 and was the son of Clement Oliver Moore, Sr. and Mattie Lillie Moore, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Runette Moore and one brother, Thomas Moore. He served as a Hospital Corpsman in the United States Navy during World War II. He was employed as a bookkeeper for Russell Daniel Irrigation Company and, later, as plant manager of Tifton Concrete Pipe Company, until his retirement.
He was ordained as a minister of the Primitive Baptist faith on July 18, 1954 and spent the rest of his life until retirement in an earnest, faithful, and committed effort to serve as shepherd and caretaker of congregations at the Primitive Baptist churches of Corinth, Frank, Sasser, Dawson, Turner, and Tifton. He was pastor of Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church for 29 years.
Elder Moore is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Elsie Walker Moore of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Moore Lang and her husband, Ernest; two sons and daughters-in-law, Alan David Moore and his wife, Rhonda, of Tifton, and Mark Stephen Moore and his wife, Cathy, of Dublin; his grandchildren and their spouses, Aimee Lang, Jeniffer and Scott Lynch, Lindsey Lang, Jaime and Luke Roberts, Jeremy and Kristen Moore, Matthew Moore, Cameron Moore, and Kelsie Moore; and his great grandchildren, Alison, Eli and Emily Kade Roberts, and Mollie Moore; one sister, Sarah Stewart; and one sister-in-law, Onie Moore.
