Mrs. Lewis was born on December 20, 1908 in Turner County, Georgia, to the late George William Perry and Annie Hogan Swain. She lived in the community since 1950 moving from Turner County. She was a homemaker and a farm wife raising her children and later babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Crossview Baptist Church and the Pathfinders Sunday School Class. Mrs. Lewis loved to crochet and had a tradition of handcrafting baby blankets for her great-grandchildren. Her love was also shown by crocheting toys for her great-grands for their first Christmas presents. Each one received a lamb, teddy bear, clown, and Santa Claus for their first four years.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Eugene & Magdalene Lewis, Avis & Jimmy Josey, Sidney Lewis, and LaVerne & Reuben Pitts, all of Fitzgerald; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one sister: Clora Stubbs of Shellman. Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her husband: George LaFayette Lewis; one son: Ira Lewis; six brothers and three sisters.

The family suggests those desiring to send memorials in lieu of flowers may send them to Crossview Baptist Church, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, or to Blue-Gray Community Hospice.
