Obituary

Pearl J. McGee, 86, of Fitzgerald, died Friday, October 5, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.

Funeral services will be held 4:30 P.M., Sunday, October 7, at Old Valley Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Irwin County, with Elder Charles Tyson and Elder Herman Griffin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9, Saturday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. McGee was born September 13, 1921, in Ben Hill County, to the late Homer and Polly Hobby Jordan. She was a former dietician for the Belle Glade High School and Belle Glade Hospital in Belle Glade, Florida. In 1969, she moved with her family to Fitzgerald. She retired from Tice Yarns as a machine operator. She was a member of Old Valley Grove Primitive Baptist Church.

Mrs. McGee is survived by her two daughters: Linda Van Auken of St. Augustine, FL and Sherry Young of Bowling Green, KY; one daughter in-law: Janice McGee of Ocilla; four grandchildren: Craig Van Auken of Plantation, FL, Eric Van Auken of Gainesville, FL, Brian Powell and Tracy McKie, both of Fitzgerald; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and two sisters: Ethel Weaver of Fitzgerald and Gussie Abrams of St. Petersburg, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband: Buster McGee; one son: Larry McGee; and four brothers: John Jordan, Frank Jordan, Bernard Jordan, and Warren Jordan.
