Mr. Frank S. Campo, a retired pushcart merchant in Boston’s historic Haymarket, died Friday at the Winchester Hospital. He was 77. Born and raised in Boston’s North End, Frank was the son of the late Pasquale and Anna Campo. From his childhood Frank was a push cart operator in the Haymarket. He operated Haymarket Fruit and Produce until his retirement. Frank lived in Somerville for 40 years until moving to Medford at his retirement. He was a member of the Haymarket Association and the Arlington Retired Men’s Club.
He was the beloved husband of Jean (Zappala) Campo. He was a devoted father to Pasquale Campo and his wife Lori of Everett, Nanette Campo of Quincy, Dr. Frank Campo of the North End, Gina (Campo) Cappello and her husband Doug of Andover. He was a loving grandfather to Andrew, Kristina, Samantha and Gabrielle. He was a dear brother to Lillian Maiocca of Medford.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family Tuesday 3 – 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
