Margaret A. (McMahon) Callahan, 74, of Atkinson, NH, formerly of Salem, NH, died Thurs., Oct. 4th at her home in the company of her beloved husband.
Margaret was born in Newton, MA, the daughter of the late Charles & Cora (Clarke) McMahon. She grew up in Watertown, MA, graduating from Watertown High School in 1951.
Margaret’s primary interest was her family and grandchildren with their mutual visits and the special arrangements she would provide for family gatherings in her home, especially during the holiday season. She enjoyed her frequent trips around the state looking for antiques and dining out with her coupons, always with her constant companion, Frank. “My Favorite Chauffer”, she called him.
Margaret was very involved in her community serving as a Sunshine Lady with the Atkinson Garden Club, where she had won multiple awards including Garden of the Month, an activity that she treasured. She also was an avid reader and active member of the Atkinson Friends of the Library. Margaret “Sis” will be sorely missed and never forgotten.
She was predeceased by a brother Thomas McMahon. She is survived by her husband of 57 years: John “Frank” Callahan, a former supervisor with the Salem Department of Public Works.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, Oct. 8th at 11 AM at St. Luke the Evangelist (Formerly known as Holy Angels Church), Plaistow, NH. Burial will follow in Atkinson Cemetery, Atkinson, NH. Calling hours will be held Sunday, Oct. 7th from 4-7 PM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St. Salem, NH.
