Obituary

DRACUT - Francine E. (Machado) (Dowd) Sakelakos, a resident of Dracut, and former Lowell resident, died Thursday October 4th at her home surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Michael G. Sakelakos.

She was a daughter of Francis and Elizabeth I. (Rocha) Machado. She received her education in Lowell schools and was a graduate of the former Keith Hall in Lowell. She was also a graduate of Tewksbury State Hospital School of Nursing.

Mrs. Sakelakos had been employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse by Mary Immaculate Nursing Home, Greater Lawrence Family Health Center, and most recently by Wingate of Lowell.

She was a communicant of St. Michael Church in Lowell.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by her children Anthony Dowd and his wife Alyson, Shannon Dowd and her fiancee Christopher Chevalier, Colleen Newbury and her husband Jason, and Kathleen Dowd and her fiance David Pucci; two step children Kara and Alex Sakelakos; two grandchildren Caitlin and Anthony Dowd; her sister Pamela Rodrigue and her companion Arthur Trainor, her brother Francis Machado and his wife Maureen, her sister Mary Webster, a sister-in-law Leslie Burke and her husband Jay, a brother-in-law Bruce Webster; and eight nieces and nephews, Michelle Valcourt, John Rodrigue, Adam Burke, Andrew Burke, Jesse Webster, Mary Webster, Zachary Machado, Justin Machado, and Jessica Machado.

Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Monday from 4 until 8P.M. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday at 9A.M., followed by her Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10A.M. at St. Michael Church, Lowell. Interment in Lowell Cemetery, Lowell. Those who wish may make memorial contributions in her name to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701, or to the VNA Hospice of Greater Lowell, P.O. Box 1965, Lowell, MA 01853.
