Obituary

Lawrence C. Schmitt, 91, of Woburn passed away at the Winchester Nursing Center, on Monday October 1st, He was the husband of Rose E. (Doherty) Schmitt.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Barbara (Eckart) and Andrew Schmitt.
He grew up in Brooklyn, New York, following his high School education he served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War ll.

After his military service he joined the New York City Police Department where he worked untill his retirement in 1966. He then moved to Woburn to enjoy his retirement and be close to many of his family. Larry as he was affectionately known enjoyed singing with local groups and performed at different shows throughout the area. He was a avid horseback rider and vacationed wherever he could do some horseback riding. His family was most inportant in his life, especially his grandchildren, who were very dear to him.

In addition to his wife Rose he is survived by his son Jerry and his wife Mary Anne of Hingham, a brother Andrew Schmitt of Massapequa, NY. He also was the loving granfather of Michael, Colleen, Timothy and Caroline Schmitt.

He was preceded in death by his brother Arthur Schmitt

Larry´s funeral will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. Woburn on Friday, October 5th, at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd. Woburn at 10. Services will conclude with burial at St. Paul Cemetery, Hingham.

Visiting Hours at the funeral home will be on Thursday from 4 thru 7.
