Obituary

Jack E. Molesworth, age 81, of Winchester formerly of Boston, died September 30th, at the Lexington Health Center following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Phyllis (Carpinteri) Molesworth. Born in Kansas City, MO he was the son of the late George H. and Isabelle (Eadie) Molesworth.

Jack was a Professional Philatelist and was the owner and operator of the Jack E. Molesworth Co. a philatelic dealer and brokerage company, which started as a hobby at the age of fifteen and still continues to this day. He was born and raised in Kansas City and was a 1947 graduate of Tulane University in Louisiana. He continued his education at the Harvard Graduate School of Business where he received his master’s degree in 1948. He was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII. He was a past President of the Political Education Assn. Inc and was a former National YMCA Public Affairs Chairman. He also served as the former Chairman of the MA Young Americans for Freedom and was voted the "Most Outstanding Conservative" by the organization in 1964.

Jack was a longtime resident of Boston and was very active in state and national politics throughout the 1960´s. In 1964 he announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for Congressman from the Ninth Congressional District to oppose incumbent, John W. McCormack, the then, Speaker of the National House of Representatives.

Jack had many hobbies and passions throughout his life. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Oakley Country Club in Watertown for over fifty years. He was a big fan of Harness Horse Racing and owned and managed several horses over the years. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family in Fairlee, VT.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Vanessa Rubera of Fairlee, VT, Linda Molesworth of Huntingtown, MD, Jon Molesworth and his wife Sarah of West Fairlee, VT. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Eadie and Harrison Molesworth.

A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, MA, Wednesday, October 3rd, at 11 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Jack’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., MA Chapter, Attention: Development Department, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
