Mr. Silas G. Campbell life's journey began on January 13, 1946 as a gift from God to Mr. Fred O'Felix Campbell and Mrs. Beulah Loretta Curry Campbell both of whom preceded him in death and on Thursday, September 27, 2007 at his residence, he transitioned from this life to his eternal home in heaven.
Silas was also preceded in death by two brothers: Mr. Bobby Campbell and Mr. Charles Campbell.
Silas understood and recognized the validity of the word of God where the Lord said "it is not good for man to be alone," so in order to live a productive life, he found him a "suitable helpmate" so on December 24, 1964 he heeded the word of the Lord and was joined in Holy matrimony to Ella B. McCutchen and to this union three daughters were born.
Silas was a spiritual man, he was trained and taught on his mother's knee and at an early age, he accepted the Lord into his life and joined the Owens Chapel Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of the Reverend James Irvin McGahee. Silas served God and His people faithfully until his death. During his spiritual journey at Owens Chapel, he held a number of positons; he sang in the Owens Chapel #1 and #2 Choirs, The Male Chorus, Chairman of the Bus Ministry, Trustee Board Ministry, Benevolence Ministry and Finance Ministry. In each of these positions, he was a good steward.
Silas was employed approximately thirty years at Amtec Corporation of Huntsville, Alabama as a Supervisor in Shipping and Receiving. He was a committed employee until his death.
He received his formal education in the Madison County Public School System where he graduated from the Council Training School in Normal, Alabama.
Silas lived a full life and left a great legacy. It was a delight to be in his company and he was always surrounded by family, friends and loved ones. He was a man of many talents and helped countless people and was well known for his kind, generous, concern and compassionate spirit. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed him and he did it with great joy. Later in life, the Lord blessed him with seven beautiful grandchildren whom he loved and cherished and he did what he could to impart work ethics and the principles of faith into each of their lives. He always enjoyed caring for them and carrying them from house to house showing them off as his great blessings. He prided himself in making sure that his family was taken care of and had everything they needed to live a full and faithful life.
