Obituary

Martha Cooper Walker, 88, of Fitzgerald, died Thursday, September 27, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, September 29, at the First Baptist Church in Fitzgerald, with Rev. Ray Walker and Rev. Tom Braziel officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 until 2, Saturday, at the church.

Mrs. Walker was born November 24, 1918, in Irwin County, to the late Thomas Brackett and Frankie Reid Tomberlin Cooper. She was a 1936 graduate of the Irwin County High School in Mystic, and received her Associates Degree from ABAC, where she played basketball. Mrs. Walker was a resident of Macon for thirty years, where she retired as bookkeeper for Palmer Tire Company and moved back to Fitzgerald in 1984. She was a former employee of the ASCS office in Ocilla. Mrs. Walker was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fitzgerald, the WMU, the Young At Heart, and a faithful member of the Faithful Servants Sunday School Class as long as she was able to attend.

Mrs. Walker is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Rev. Ray & Lynn Walker and two granddaughters, Kate and Annie Walker, all of Fayetteville, GA as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond F. Walker, three sisters and two brothers.
