Obituary

Helen Patricia (Dobey) Lafaille, 76, of Lambtown Road, Mystic, passed away Wednesday morning at Groton Regency.

Helen was born in Montpelier, VT on April 9, 1931 the daughter of Robert and Karen Dobey.

Before retiring, she was employed as a bookkeeper at VanZandt Sails and later as a clerk at the Irish Eyes Shop at Old Mistick Village.

Known for her zest for life and fun loving ways, she also enjoyed decorating her home and yard, reading, crocheting, cooking and baking. She will also be remembered for her great faith in her Lord and was a member of St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church.

She was married to Gaston L. “Gus” Lafaille on July 1, 1950. He died on August 24, 1994. She is survived by her daughters, Cherylene Lafaille & her partner Rosemarie Carzello of Enfield, and Debra DeNobrega & her husband Peter of Groton; and two granddaughters, Amanda R. and Lindsey M. DeNobrega. She was predeceased by two children, Sandra in 1951 and Robert in 1993.

Helen's family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Monday from 7-9pm.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, 69 Groton Long Point Road, Groton on Tuesday at 10am. Fr. Tony Gruber, Pastor of St. Patrick Church, Mystic will be celebrant. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Patrick Cemetery, Old Mystic.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 306 Industrial Park Road, Middletown, CT 06457.
