Constance I. Williams, age 89, of Stoneham formerly of Woburn and Allston died September 25th at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Gatta and Thomas W. Williams. Born in Italy she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Philomena Torrone.
Mrs. Williams came to the United States as a young girl and settled in East Boston with her family where she was raised and educated. She later lived in Allston for many years then lived in Woburn for close to fifteen years. Mrs. Williams was a retired Cleaning Department Supervisor and worked for many years at the Beacon Chambers and the State Street Bank. Prior to her work as a supervisor she worked for many years as a talented sticher with several shoe manufacturing companies in and arround Boston. Mostly devoted to her family, Mrs. Williams enjoyed cooking and spending time with children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Williams is survived by her children, Pauline Bertini of Wakefield, Robert A. Gatta Sr. of Billerica, Michael Gatta of Hudson, NH, Sandy Gatta of Stoneham, Edward J. Gatta of Nashua, NH and Mark W. Gatta of Stoneham. She is also Survived by 18 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother, Livio Torrone of Brighton, and sisters, Stella Cioffio of Brighton, Josephine Fusco of Medford, Thelma Stoddard of Georgetown, Aurora Barasso and Lydia Kelly of Allston. She is predeceased by her grandson, John Fitzgerald Gatta, great granddaughter, Miranda Bertini, brother, Anthony Torrone, and sisters, Mary Wardenski and Angelina Riccio.
Funeral from the McLaughlin – Dello Russo Funeral Home 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, Friday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Patrick Church 71 Central St. Stoneham, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
