Obituary

Vincent Salvi of Atkinson, New Hampshire, formerly of Medford, Woburn and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and beloved husband of Irene (Bonelli) Salvi of 68 years, died at the Caritas Holy Family Hospital in Methuen on Sunday, September 23, 2007, surrounded by his loving family. He was 98 years old.
Born in Somerville, Massachusetts on April 13, 1909, he was the beloved son of the late Gaetano and Giuseppina (Bonzagni) Salvi.
Mr. Salvi was a graduate of the Medford Public School System and was employed as a driver for several local baking companies for many years as well as a streetcar driver and bus driver for Boston Elevator/MBTA and retired as a starter from the MBTA. Following his retirement, he worked in security for several race tracks in New Hampshire and Florida.
Vincent was an avid bowler and enjoyed watching sports, especially the Red Sox and Patriots. He also loved to play records for his five great granddaughters to dance to. His greatest enjoyment came from raising vegetables, especially tomatoes, with his fellow gardeners at Bryant Woods in Atkinson.
He will be sorely missed by his beloved wife, Irene, one son; Walter and his wife Kathy Salvi of Andover, one daughter Diane and her husband Richard Alberti of Bedford, New Hampshire, four grandchildren; Paul Salvi, Kristin Harris, Teresa Avampato and Tricia Crupi and five great-granddaughters.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover, Thursday, September 27, 2007, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends respectfully attended. Calling hours were Wednesday, September 26, 2007, from 4 to 8 PM in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover. Burial was in Spring Grove Cemetery, Andover.
