TEWKSBURY- Claire (Moore) (Shields) Winter, 70, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday morning September 25th, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Russell Winter, with whom she would have celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary this December.
She was born in Revere on January 18, 1937, the daughter of the late Roger and Dorothy (Dwyer) Moore. She graduated Revere High class of 1956. She married the late Cornelius
Shields in 1956 and raised her family in Revere. Claire worked as a waitress and bartender at many restaurants north of Boston. She lived the greater part of her life in Malden after she married Russell Winter in 1978. She enjoyed crocheting, poker, baby-sitting, and gardening. She retired to Tewksbury with her husband two years ago.
Besides her husband, she is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law; Stephen and his wife Beth Shields of Saugus, Thomas and his wife Robin Shields of New Jersey, Timothy and his wife Sandra Shields of Melrose, Paul and his wife Deborah Shields of Saugus, Roger and his wife Janet Shields of Billerica,
Two daughters and one son-in-law, Dorothy Shields of Malden, and Pamela Eagan and her husband William of Tewksbury.
Four stepdaughters; Carol and her husband Daniel Clark of Bradford, Barbara Jean Winter of Malden, Rosalind Eisan and her husband David of Plymouth, and Robin Winter-Weber and her husband James of Conway,NH.
One brother Joseph Moore of Virginia, two sisters Mary Palmariello of NH and her twin sister Carole Doherty of Tewksbury.
She is also survived by many, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mother of the late Robert and Keith Shields. Sister of the late Roger, Raymond, Paul and Dorothy Moore.
Her Funeral Mass was September 28, at St. William’s Church. Interment was private.
