Opal Clytee Tesney Chambless, 80, of Tifton died Monday, September 24, 2007, at Tift Health Care. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2007, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Terrell Roberts, Rev. Bill Barksdale and Rev. Billy Sumner will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 26, 2007, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Chambless was born on October 28, 1926 in Winfield, Alabama and was the daughter of John Tesney and Vera Howell Tesney, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, R D Chambless, who died in 2002; and two brothers, Pete Tesney and Ben Tesney. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church. She had resided in Tift County since 1955.
Mrs. Chambless is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Gail Chambless of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Ken Watson of Tifton; one brother and sister-in-law, Max and Sara Tesney of Americus; two sisters, Leona Hullett of Sylvester and Inez Crowe of Sumner; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Michelle and Bill Ryder, LaDon and Kacee Chambless, Allen and Stephanie Peugh, Courtney and Allison Peugh, Tammy and Rolando Licea, Kim Cross and Jessica Watson; and eleven great grandchildren, Chase Powell, Cole Chambless, Cheyenne Chambless, Garrett Chambless, Jeremy Chambless, Bryce Peugh, Logan Peugh, Lelan Peugh, Lane Sumner, Taylor Cross and Rana Cross.
