Edward J. Crowley 81 years of Brockton died Monday morning at Braemoor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Rachel E. (Sullivan) Crowley. Born in Brockton and raised in West Bridgewater he was a son of the late Daniel and Delia (Duggan) Crowley. For many years he had been a resident of Brockton. Following graduation from Coyle High School in 1944, he entered the US Navy and served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. Upon his discharge he returned to West Bridgewater to work for the family dairy. He then worked for many years with his brother Francis at Crowley Construction Company in West Bridgewater. He was an avid golfer and was a member at Campello Veterans Fireman’s Association and Samoset Rod & Gun Club in West Bridgewater. He enjoyed time spent with his family and was most proud of his children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Rachel E. (Sullivan) Crowley, his seven children Daniel F. Crowley of Brockton, Margaret E. Crowley of Barnstable, Joanne L. Crowley of Needham, Jane F. Lewis of Anchorage, AK, Thomas E. Crowley of Waltham, Lt. John W. Crowley, BPD, of Brockton and E. Bridget Hernandez of Freetown, 14 grandchildren, one brother C. Francis Crowley of West Bridgewater, three sisters Mary Bulman of Brockton, Elizabeth Newberg of Wareham and Rita Petronelli of Easton, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Daniel T. Crowley.
