Obituary

John A. Caforio, Sr., 80, of 105 River Street in the Rochdale
section of Leicester died Monday, Sept. 24 surrounded by his loving family
at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home after an illness.
He leaves two sons John A. Caforio, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of
Rochdale and Vernon D. Caforio and his wife Tracy of Rochdale, two daughters
Karen J. O'Brien of Rochdale and Sharon A. Pevsner and her husband William
of Sierra Madre, CA, a sister Italia Sullivan of Grafton, six grandchildren
Michael, Jeffrey, Andrew and Cody O'Brien, Julia Pevsner and Anna Caforio,
his former wife Joan (Manning) Caforio of Millbury and several nieces and
nephews. He is pre-deceased by a brother Oreste Caforio and two sisters
Anna Bisceglia and Alice Borci.
Mr. Caforio was born in Worcester son of Cosmo and Antoinette (Savona)
Caforio. He worked for several years at Wyman Gordon Co. and then he worked
for many years for the City of Worcester in the Parks and Recreation Dept.
retiring in 1984 due to illness. He Served in the United States Navy and
was stationed on the U.S.S. Provo during WWII. He was a member of the
Columbus Civic Association, Auburn Elks and the American Legion Post 205
Rochdale. He was an avid deer hunter and deep sea fisherman. He enjoyed
playing cards with his friends at the C.C.A., especially with his good
friend Bob O'Day. John's greatest joy in life were his children and
grandchildren, his most cherished moments were spent with his grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Thursday, Sept. 27 from MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL
HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester with a Mass at 10:00AM in St. Pius X
Church, 1153 Main Street, Leicester, Burial will be in Worcester County
Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 PM. In
lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the VNA Care Network &
Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.
