Mary L. (Norton) Riley Dias, 94, of South Dartmouth died Sunday December 22, 2002 at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Dr. Frederic A. Riley and the late Joseph Dias.
Born in Fall River , the daughter of the late Michael and Charlotte (Hanrahan) Norton, she had lived in New Bedford for most of her life before moving to Dartmouth 22 years ago.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in South Dartmouth.
Mrs. Dias was formerly employed as a registered nurse at St. Luke's Hospital.
She was a graduate of St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of the Key Note Glee Club and loved line dancing.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Kathleen Riley of Suntree, Florida, and Susan Riley of Sandwich; a sister, Veronica O'Brien of Daytona Beach, Florida; 4 grandchildren, Gary Sherman of Mashpee, Christopher Sherman of Cotuit, and Eric Andersen and Michael Andersen, both of Boston; and many nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Michael Norton, James Norton, Charlotte Keyes, Ella Hines, and Margaret Kelley.
Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday December 28, 2002 at 11 AM in St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, New Bedford. Visiting hours are omitted.
