Jerry Ellis Ward, 61, of Lenox died Saturday, September 22, 2007, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2007, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Edwin Dillard and Rev. Junior Kearce will officiate with burial to follow in New Prospect Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Sycamore. Randy Riner, Mike Owens, Jerry Rutland, Ed Powell, Stan Mercer and Larry Burkhead will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Omega Farm Supply. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 26, 2007, from 7:00 to 9:00 at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Ward was born on July 5, 1946 in Worth County and was the son of John Terrell Ward and Eula Othel Howell Ward, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one son, Brian Ellis Ward; one brother, Richard Ward; and two sisters, Patsy Brooks and Mary Giddens. He was employed by Omega Farm Supply.
Mr. Ward is survived by his wife, Mary Ward of Lenox; one son, Darrell Ward of Lenox; two daughters, Lori Summerlin of Lenox and Tammy Tripp of Lenox; one brother, Terry Ward of Tifton; six sisters, Nell Handley of Ashburn, Teresa Ward of Ashburn, Tina Tanner of Ashburn, Melba Brown of Ashburn, Sue Tripp of Ashburn and Zelda Fender of Ashburn; nine grandchildren, Lakisha Tripp, Anthony Tripp, Jr., Morgan Newell, Garrett Newell, Hope Ward, Brian Ward, Jr., April Ward, Amber Ward and Angel Ward; and four great grandchildren, Halie Tripp, Alex Hamilton, Dylan Ward and Adala Garces.
The family requests that casual attire be worn at the funeral service.
