FAIRHAVEN — Eleanor L. Smith, age 84 years, of Fairhaven, died Friday, September 21, 2007, at Alden Court.
Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Lillian A. (Walne) Smith and lived in this area all of her life.
A graduate of New Bedford High School, she was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and active with Episcopal Church Women and an active volunteer with the church thrift shop.
Eleanor served in the US Navy during World War II and retired from New Bedford Gas and Edison Light Company after 38 years of employment.
She is survived by her niece, Eleanor Jane Jardin; her nephews, Gary S. and Allan D. Smith; cousins, Lillian G. Thomson, Ruth M. Walne and Gilbert Walne.
She was aunt of the late Craig Smith and sister of the late George A. Smith.
Her funeral will take place on Tuesday, September 25th, at 10 A.M., in the Chapel of Grace Episcopal Church, followed by burial in Acushnet Cemetery. Remembrances may be made in her name to the charity of one's choice, or Grace Church Food Pantry, 133 School St., NB 02740
