Obituary

Constance L. Balcius, 85, of Chester, NH died September 20, 2007 at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry, NH. She was born in Medford, MA on September 18, 1922, a daughter of the late Percival and Bessie (Landry) Davis. Raised in Chester, she was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy in Derry and the Elliot Hospital School of Nursing in Manchester, NH. She began her career in healthcare as a Registered Nurse at the former Alexander Eastman Hospital Hospital in Derry and was promoted to serve as Administrator of the Hospital. Later on, Constance returned to nursing at the Hoodcroft and McKerley Nursing Home in Derry. Mrs. Balcius was a communicant of St. Jerome Church in Chester and was a member of the Elliot Hospital Nurses Alumni Association. A wonderful mother and grandmother, she was known as a loving and caring person.

IN HER LIFE: She is survived by her husband, Paul P. Balcius of Chester; a daughter, Kathleen E. Toomey and her husband, William F. Toomey of Auburn, NH; a grandson, Michael W. Toomey of Auburn; as well as nieces and nephews. Her family extends their gratitude and thanks for the pleasant and comfortable care provided by the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center.

Calling hours were held on Sunday, September 23rd from 3 to 5 PM in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday at 1 PM in St. Peters Church, 567 Manchester Rd., Auburn. Burial followed in Great Hill Cemetery, Chester.
