Sadie (Epstein) Shuman, 86, a longtime resident of Chelsea entered into eternal rest on September 18, 2007. She was the wife of the late Milton Shuman.
Born in Boston, the daughter of the late Louis & Bertha (Rosen) Epstein, Mrs. Shuman moved with her family to Chelsea at a young age. She was educated in the Chelsea School System & a graduate of Chelsea High School. During WWII, Mrs. Shuman worked for the Bunny Bear Co. in Everett where she assisted in the production of Pee Coats for the United States Navy. Mrs. Shuman went on to work for the Moll's Kosher Meat Market for many years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, & crochet. Mrs. Shuman was like a grandmother to so many neighborhood children, constantly baking goodies for them to enjoy.
Survivors include 2 sons, Bruce Shuman & his wife Patricia of Malden & Leonard Shuman & his wife Beverly of Beverly; her granddaughter, Christine Caudill & her husband Ken, Jr. of Malden; & her great-grandson, Andrew Caudill. She was the sister of the late Evelyn Rubin & Jack Epstein.
Funeral services will be held in the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave. (Cary Sq) CHELSEA on Friday, September 21, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Rabbi Alan Turetz of Temple Emeth will officiate. Burial will follow next to her husband in the Custom Tailors Cemetery, Baker St. West Roxbury. Due to the Yom Kippur holiday, memorial observance will be omitted.
