Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Margaret Ann (Cunningham) Curcuru, 86, formerly of Whittemore Street, died Saturday, September 15, 2007 in the Ledgewood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Beverly. She was the wife of the late Charles J. Curcuru who died in 1985.
Born in Gloucester on August 31, 1921, she was the daughter of the late James H. and Annie (O’Neil) Cunningham. A lifelong resident of Gloucester, she attended St. Ann’s School and was a graduate of Gloucester High School.
As a member of St. Ann’s Parish, Margaret contributed greatly to the events leading to the long awaited erection of the beautiful shrine of Saint Ann. She was a member and contributed to the Legion of Mary, Guild of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and the Third Order of Saint Theresa. She was also a member of the Friends of the Sawyer Free Library, Cape Ann Animal Aid and the American Assoc. of Retired Persons. Margaret was an active volunteer at the Gloucester public schools, Sawyer Free Library, Cape Ann Historical Association, Fitz Hugh Lane House Tourist Center and the Addison Gilbert Hospital. She helped many people in many ways in her lifetime and enjoyed being wherever she was most needed.
She is survived by many relatives and good friends. She was also predeceased by a brother, Robert E. Cunningham.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday in the Holy Family Parish, St. Ann Church at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Cape Ann Animal Aid, 260 Main St., Gloucester or to the Holy Family Parish, St. Ann Church, 60 Prospect St., Gloucester. Interment will be held in the Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
