Frances Elizabeth “Betty” Pietranczyk, 84, of Fitzgerald, died Monday, September 17, at the Morris Pavilion of Northeast Florida Hospice in Jacksonville, Florida.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, September 20, at Saint William’s Catholic Church in Fitzgerald with Father Lawrence Lucree officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family may be contacted at the home of Kyle Krause, 758 Jacksonville Highway, Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Pietranczyk was born February 19, 1923, in Merrill, Wisconsin, to the late August and Frances Sandhofer Jager. She moved to Fitzgerald in 1985 from Hammond, Indiana and lived with her daughter in Fernandina Beach since 2006. Mrs. Pietranczyk was a homemaker, a former employee of Union Tank Car Company during WWII, making tanks for the war and was a former school crossing guard. She was a member of Saint William’s Catholic Church in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Pietranczyk is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia & James Raffone of Fernandina Beach, FL and Mary & James Murphy of Brownsburg, IN; son and daughter-in-law, Robert & Ann Pietranczyk of Mill Creek, WA; 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sister; Mary Ellen Lansbach of Land-O-Lake, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband, James J. “Jim” Pietranczyk, a twin brother and 3 sisters.
