Silvino “Sal” Sousa age 74 of 14 Brian Ave., Somerset. Widower of Pauline (Costa) Sousa. Son of the late Joao Carvalho Sousa & Francisca (Silva) Sousa. Passed away Sept. 18, 2007. Born in Fernais Da Luz, Sao Miguel, Azores. He was a Somerset resident since 1971, a member of St. John of God Church, a Warden of the Mgsr. Furtado Council 12348 of the K of C, a volunteer maintaining the grounds of the church, a recipient of the Marion Medal, an avid fisherman, a member of the St. John’s Fishing Club and a past member of the Board of Directors. Before retiring in 1986, he was a machine operator at Plymouth Rubber Co.
He is survived by 2 Daughters: Susana Leite & Laura Do Monte & her husband Edward, both of Fall River. Two Granddaughters: Patricia Leite & Sarah Do Monte. l Brother: John C. Sousa of Somerset. 2 Sisters: Joanne Campos of Swansea & Hirondina Ledo of Somerset. Several nieces & nephews. He was Brother of the late Antonio C. Sousa.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St. SATURDAY at 9 A.M. followed by a funeral mass in St. John of God Church at 10 A.M. Entombment in Notre Dame Cemetery.Calling hours FRIDAY 5-9 P.M.
