Bertha (Tavares) Lopes age 86 of 332 County St. Widow of John R. Lopes, Jr. Daughter of the late Manuel & Mary (Oliveira) Tavares. Gone home to be with my Lord Jesus Christ Sept. 18, 2007. Born in Fall River, she resided in Fall River & FL, returning to Fall River 1948. She was a past president of the Immaculate Conception Women’s Guild. Before retiring, she was a Seamstress at Shelbourne Shirt Co.
She is survived by 2 Children: John “Skip” Lopes of Fall River & Philomena Birch of Attleboro. 3 Grandchildren: Shawn, John & Chrissy. 2 Great Grandchildren: Zachary & Stephanie & Several nieces & nephews. She was Sister of the late David & Daniel Tavares & Mary Lomas.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Saturday at 8 A.M. with a funeral service in Grace Gospel Church at 9 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 4-8 P.M.
