Helen Howard Dunlap, 75, of Tifton died Tuesday, September 18, 2007, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 21, 2007, in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton's First Baptist Church. Dr. W. Ches Smith, III, Dr. Wayne Roe and Rev. Paul Thomas will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Johnson, Ronnie Howard, Phillip Perlis, Billy Wiseman, Emory McMillan and Larry Hendricks. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael S. Lee, Edwin and Wylene Walker, Betty and Palmer Sowell, Jackie and John Lindsey, Marvin and Lynette Perlis, Dale and Sonny Pflug, Mary Glynn Hendricks, Larry and Jean Varnadoe, Bob and Mary John Reinhardt, Ralph and Saralyn Wilson, and Joyce Johnson. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 20, 2007, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Dunlap was born on December 9, 1931 in Terrell County and was the daughter of James B. Howard and Bessie Flournoy Howard, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Franklin "Frank" Dunlap, Sr., who died on January 29, 2006; and one brother. She was the comptroller for Tifton's First Baptist Church for 33 years, where she was a member. She was also secretary of the Adult Sunday School Department, as well as being on the counting committee. She had lived in Tifton since 1958.
Mrs. Dunlap is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James Franklin "Jimmy" Dunlap, Jr. and his wife, Angie Register Dunlap, of Tifton; ond daughter and son-in-law, Kathy Dunlap Reinhardt and her husband, John R. Reinhardt, of Tifton; and four grandchildren, Ree Reinhardt of Tifton, John Paul Reinhardt of Tifton, Ryan Dunlap of Tallahassee, Florida and Grant Dunlap of Tallahassee, Florida.
