Roland R. Chouinard
Manchester, Roland R. Chouinard, 74, died September 15, 2007 at the Catholic Medical Center surrounded by his family following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Manchester on January 7, 1933 the son of Edmund and Fedora (Mailloux) Chouinard and had been a lifelong resident of this city.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Prior to his retirement he owned and operated The Chicken House Restaurant and The Chicken Roost Restaurant.
He was a past Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus Notre Dame Council 5163, and also a parishioner of Ste. Marie Parish.
He had a passion for antique cars, especially Cadillacs, he also enjoyed motorcycles. He loved to cook fried chicken. He was also very fond of his cat Pitou.
He was predeceased by his first wife Bernadette (Beaudoin) Chouinard, and his 2nd wife Lucille (Simard) Chouinard.
Family members include his wife Claire (Labarre) Chouinard, of Manchester, 2 daughters Mrs. Alain (Marie) J. Chouinard, of Pembroke, Mrs. David (Linda) D. Roberts, of Belmont MA., and one stepson Robert A.J. Gagnon Jr.
In His Life: He leaves 4 grandchildren Jennifer A. Dougherty , Renee B. Bishop, David V. Roberts, Mitchell C. Roberts, 3 great grandchildren Adam Bishop, Cullen Dougherty, Garrett Bishop, 4 step grandchildren Daniel Gagnon, Robert Gagnon III, Tabitha Gagnon, Kayla Gagnon, and one step great granddaughter Alexia Rose Gagnon.
Services: Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm at J.N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home 110 Bridge St.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 am Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. .
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
