New Bedford – Alice H. (Medeiros) Sturgeon Peirce, 84, of New Bedford died September 16, 2007 at New Bedford Health Care Center.
Mrs. Peirce was born in Acushnet, daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Costa) Medeiros, and lived in the greater New Bedford area all of her life. She was employed as a nurse’s aide by the former Hillcrest Nursing Home until her retirement. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Tuttle Post. She enjoyed crosswords, reading, traveling, TV, the Red Sox but most of all spending time with her children & grandchildren.
Survivors include 3 daughters: Paula A. Simmons and her fiancé Victor Fernandes of Mattapoisett, Glenda A. Charest-Durante and her husband Don of New Bedford and Roberta G. Nadeau of New Bedford; 6 sons: Glenn H. Sturgeon, Jr. and his wife Joyce of Acushnet, David P. Sturgeon of New Bedford, Everett J. Sturgeon and his wife Barbara of Dartmouth, Peter B. Sturgeon and his fiancée Beth Davol of New Bedford, Steven A. Sturgeon and his wife Mary of Fairhaven and Mark K. Sturgeon and his wife Oletta of New Bedford; 24 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
She was sister of the late Manuel Medeiros, Jr. and Joseph Medeiros; mother of the late Michael and James Sturgeon; grandmother of the late Michael J. Sturgeon; and great-grandmother of the late Aiden J. Machado.
