Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Beatrice J. (Williams) Dodge, 77, died Friday, September 14, 2007 at home after a brief illness with her daughter at her side.
Born in Gloucester on August 11, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John D. and Bessie (Canning) Williams. She was a graduate of Gloucester High School class of 1948 and Katherine Gibbs. After graduation, she was employed at Scudder Investments in Boston. She was also employed at the Addison Gilbert Hospital for thirty-two years as an administrative secretary in public relations and development before retiring in 1999. She enjoyed her years working there and loved the history and the people associated with the hospital. A large part of her job was fundraising and working with many local artists setting up exhibits. She also has a painting, by Paul Ciaramitaro, dedicated to her at Seacoast Nursing and Retirement home.
Besides spending time with her family and friends, Beatrice enjoyed knitting, playing bridge, musicals, crafts and had a great love of cats. She will be greatly missed by many and will be fondly remembered for her kindness and generosity.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Suzen E. Dodge-Teto and Steven Teto of Groton, a sister, Lillian M. Allen of Hamilton, two nieces, Cynthia and her husband, Tom Cannon of Hamilton and Sandra Allen O’Neil of Rowley, a nephew, Jeffrey and his wife, Lorraine Allen of Topsfield, a great-niece, Audrey Allen and three great-nephews, Jonathan Allen and Benjamin and Matthew O’Neil.
Her funeral services will be held on Saturday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. At the family’s request, there are no visiting hours. Interment will be held in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, E. Gloucester. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Addison Gilbert Hospital, 298 Washington St., Gloucester or to the charity of one’s choice.
